Fencewright Utility Winder

The Fencewright Utility Winder is a lightweight machine designed for the agricultural and horticultural industries. In agriculture it is used with electric fence netting for temporary fencing such as break feeding crops and grass.

The function of the unit is to collect the netting onto a special drum, capacity 350m (sheep fence), these drums are interchangeable on the machine. It takes 4-5 minutes to layout one drum at walking speed. The winder can also be attached to an ATV for laying out, which also crushes a line for the fence when in a crop. The drive belts are removed when laying out. When collecting, the netting it is laid flat on the ground and is wound onto the drum as the operator walks along pushing the machine. The winding drum is made with a galvanized box centre, moulded plastic ends and 4 stainless steel bars. The drive system consists of a 200mm dia. moulded pulley attached to each wheel, with a 100mm dia. Alloy pulley final drive on both sides. The hand levers control the tension on the two A72 belts to determine the rotation speed of the drum. As the electric netting is lifted and wound onto the drum most of the thistles, stems and dead matter fall out of the netting, giving a clean roll without snags.

This unit is perfectly balanced with no weight on the handles, hence it is easy to use when pulling or pushing by hand.

In horticulture it will handle bird netting for strawberries, frost protection for vegetables and weed matting. It will layout over a crop and retrieve without damage to either crop or net.
